Let’s start with the obvious. The Website has received a big update in the form of theme and framework changes. Here are the details at a high level:
I introduced a new framework to this site to help with providing a better set of core features and functionality that I previously did not have. This framework also allows theme building to present that functionality to you, though, I haven’t actually built a theme from scratch yet. I simply added some growth opportunities.
The old theme was lacking in what I was wanting to do with the site as it was heavily geared towards events. And despite using Meetup for the event schedule, I never really utilized the theme’s feature set. Thus, I looked for something with a minimalist vibe. After changing to the Genesis framework, I implemented this minimal theme and have made a few CSS tweaks and additions. As things progress, I’ll continue to tweak the website as needed.
Not only is the Community on Facebook, but after listening to your feedback at events and through our 2018 survey about not wanting to use Facebook, I’ve decided to launch a Slack community.
A year ago I launched a community forum but it wasn’t really used and I had thought to relaunch the community forum again. Instead, I will give Slack a try as many have recommended it in the past, and many are using it now for other communities.
The Slack channels are barren for now. It will take a while, but with your help, we can build this space out. I can’t wait to hear your feedback.
